Protecting Patients Every Day

Article from the APD Champion Newsletter: February 2021

By Tim Brown

Reagan Brown is one of the first people you see when visiting Radiology Associates, a diagnostic medical imaging center in Tallahassee. Brown takes the temperature of all patients and visitors before entering the building as a safety precaution to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Brown has always wanted to work in the medical field and now enjoys helping the company follow guidelines during the Coronavirus pandemic. “My job makes me happy and I like getting a paycheck too,” Brown said.

Brown has a disability and receives services from the Agency for Persons with Disabilities.

Brown started working at Radiology Associates with an internship, funded through APD’s Employment Enhancement Program. By her second week, Radiology Associates expressed an interest in hiring Brown permanently once her internship was over.

Brown and her job coaches have been working hard to perfect everything involved with her new position. “We are so proud of Reagan and how she refused to settle for anything less than working in the medical field,” said Job Coach Amanda Lewis.

Brown works 30 hours a week, Monday through Friday, beginning at 6:45 a.m. “I like getting up early and drinking coffee at work,” Brown said.

She says her boss and coworkers are very helpful. They all get along well, and she looks forward to working with them each day.

In her spare time, Brown enjoys her two puppies, Hazel and Sunny.
